Final Degrees
In the field of Applied Computer Science at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, it is possible to obtain a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Master of Science (MSc).
The Master's program can only be started upon the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a Computer Science-oriented studies.
The advantages of this format results in a shorter degree program, because only six semesters are required to obtain a Bachelor of Science. Additionally, it give students the opportunity, after the Bachelor degree, to pursue related Master's degree programs at our or other universities.
Modularization and Credit Points
The courses at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt are modular. A module usually lasts for one semester and ends with a final examination. Each module is assigned a number of credits, as deemed necessary, dependent on the time and effort required by the students. According to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), 30 credits are to be awarded each semester. One credit corresponds to an average of 30 hours of independent-study.
The time required for the completion:
- Bachelor's program: 180 CP
- Master's program 120 CP
Regular period of study
The standard period of study for the bachelor's degree is six semesters, including one semester for an internship.
The standard period of study for the Master's program is four semesters.

Aim of the Bachelor Study (BSc)
The Bachelor program leads to a first professional degree. Through practical and theoretical training, the students obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities that enable them to become knowledgeable, responsible and entrepreneurial leaders.
The combination of education in Computer Science with a specialization discipline, qualifies graduates to find employment in various fields that require interactivity between specialists of different fields and specialists of Computer Science. It ensures the integration of modern methods of information processing in a variety of applications.
Aim of the Master's Study (MSc)
The Master's degree in Applied Computer Science builds on knowledge gained from the Bachelor of Applied Computer Science, and leads to a second professional degree in Computer Science.
In addition to the technical training the Master's degree provides, professional development skills must also be developed in order to best prepare one's self for global- or self-employment.
The study objectives are met through hands-on learning and the applications of scientific methods & research in essential areas of Applied Computer Science. This enables our students to a build a solid practical and theoretical foundation in Computer Science, leading to good employment prospects.
With the training received, students will be able to identify new trends and relations, and gain the flexibility that is needed to cope with the rapid pace of development of new technologies in the social, virtual, and physical realms of Computer Science.
The program will be internationalized in partnership with the Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), the University encourages student exchanges with mutual recognition of academic achievements and Master's degrees.
Special emphasis is placed on the education in the promotion of Computer Scientists, and to enable them to participate equally in the profession.
